Mike Wallace of Rosemary Bookkeeping Reading joined the Rosemary Bookkeeping franchise back in 2013 and has since built a successful business with a team of bookkeepers. 

Here’s a little about Mike’s story…

Deciding on a franchise

“I did have a decision to make on what I would then do next & having worked in Corporate world for a number of years before being part of the team that set up & ran a smaller business (the one we eventually sold), I knew I did not want to go back to working in the big Corporate environment again & so thought about running my own business. I had never considered franchising, but came across the BFA website when doing some research & that led me to attending one of their open days for potential new Franchisee owners.”

Choosing Rosemary Bookkeeping

“I chose Rosemary as I had been the FD of the company we set up, so had spent a number of years looking after the books & accounts so I knew that was something I could do & could apply my knowledge & experience of that to hopefully help other small companies. The part that I was not confident of was how to find customers, marketing etc. I looked at a few franchises and spoke to Rosemary as their information pack was by far the best & seemed to offer what I needed in terms of help & support to help get me up & running.”

  • “I got my first client after about 7 weeks of the training (the original Rosemary training was a 12 week process that was aimed at getting your first clients at the end of the process)
  • I won Best Newcomer in the Rosemary Franchise awards for 2013
  • I took on my first part time employee after 3 years (I had a couple of subcontractors working with me up to that point) & now have 3 employees
  • I was Business Champion of the year in Rosemary Franchise awards for 2015
  • I reached to £100K Club after 3 years of trading
  • I was Franchisee of the year in Rosemary Franchise awards for 2018.”
